lost and found
04.12.2021—22.01.2022
A curated selection of anonymous and amateur photographs taken between the 1940s and 1960s, shown here for the first time. These images belong to the collection of Cristian Malisan, who has spent years rescuing anonymous photographic material from the oblivion of time. Immersing ourselves in the past lives of these strangers becomes a fascinating journey into the quiet miracle of photography.
These vintage photographs form a vast collective memory, a universal kaleidoscope. Names, dates, and places have vanished, yet the permanence of emotion endures. These images—once belonging to no one—become, paradoxically, images for everyone. The exhibition offers an opportunity to explore the art of the ordinary and to reflect on the importance of vernacular photography, often considered the “other side” of art.
